One glorious summer day (yesterday) we moseyed over to 32 Camden (a new build tucked in nicely at Spadina just north of Adelaide) for a charming summer pop-up event that showcased more than just the address, but also its neighbours.
These friends included Tromba Tequila – which also happened to be the our first order of business. Girlfriend whipped up two fresh ice cold margheritas that were a total game changer.
From there we chatted with the guys from Valdez, a new Mexican joint on King St – who told us about their “latino street party menu” and then we just hung out together and proceeded to eat way too many oysters. Thumbs way up.
Sidenote, if you DO end up checking out Valdez – i’ll proudly say now that my bestie (am I too old to be saying that still? don’t care..) is the man behind the massive old-school solid wood bar. No big deal.
You can check out his work here: ALX Raw
From the lobby we made our way up to the 3rd, 6th and 8th floors where we checked out the new suites and different layouts all while getting acquainted with neighbours like:
The Chickery (“Real Tasty Chicken & Sides” and literally right next door)
La Mercaria which is already an area favorite of mine. A nice little spot to stop in for an empanada or espresso and shop the beautifully curated treasures for home. You should probably also check out their blog: www.lamerceriatoronto.blogspot.ca
Steam Whistle Beer – no introduction necessary. Naturally a VERY refreshing experience.
Sanagan’s Meat Locker which you’d think would daunt a vegetarian, but in fact was a great little hang area where folks chatted airily and ate pulled pork sammies.
Kops Records where the DJ (who was quite the gentleman might I add) played island reggae tunes amongst crates of wonderful records.
Strive Life on the amenities floor, where I took some shots of workout equipment slash bondage materials (see below) and then basically just planted my bum on the patio.
When we finally breezed back out onto the street and warm sunlight… I was given a beautiful deep yellow sunflower from the Toronto Flower Market… an outdoor flower & plant market with product from local Ontario greenhouses. Definitely checking out those guys.
All in all… I don’t think I could have started my Sunday on a better note.
Shoutouts to Marcello Cabezas for having us.
